hello tooth fairy!

true will be getting a visit from the tooth fairy tonight!  it was very exciting when we realized that his front tooth was barely hanging in there....and true grabbed his tooth and twisted and BAM!  that thing flew out across the bathroom.  big excitement here at the erbeck house!

L and G do the pumpkin patch!

both aaron and i were buried at work, so our friends took luca to the annual school pumpkin patch outing.  we were sad to miss, because it looks like it was a lot of fun!
hazel often finds herself the center of attention when it comes to these two boys

luca's perfect pumpkin!  good choice lu!

the boys did a lot of lunch swapping

talk like a pirate day

luca is ready!
luca would like to tell you a joke:
"what is a pirate's favorite letter of the alphabet?"
(you would naturally oblige by saying, "arrrrrhhhh")
luca would laugh and say, "one would think so, but it's the C (please use your best pirate accent to get the joke).

starcrossed 2013

we love going to this annual cyclocross race, where actual pros turn out and the crowd goes wild.  we were there ALL day and well into the night, and the kids avoided meltdowns when we plied them with things like; french fries, tootsie rolls, cookies (the healthy kind), endless clif bars.
true was on the podium much of the day

luca eagerly rang the bell for ALL racers

the best 5 year old cheerleader out there!

monte cristo

in the 1890's,  monte cristo was a flourishing mining town located off  of what is now called the mountain loop highway.  the small town has long been abandoned,  and what is left provides some good kid entertainment at the end of a 4 mile hike.  aaron decided the kids were ready for the round trip  (8 miles)...and off we went.  the family dropped me off in granite falls, so that i could ride to the trail head and meet up with them on their return trip.  the ride was beautiful, and i enjoyed the solitude.
when i got to the car, i grabbed flip flops and continued my ride onto the trail- much of it which is passable by bike.  i had to hike a few sections, including the river crossing on a log.  but it was a great adventure for me, and when i finally caught up with them, it was easy to see that it was a great adventure for the boys too.  it's so much fun to be sharing our love of the outdoors with our kids.

office date

luca spent the day at the office with me (long story, but preK doesn't start until NEXT week, when i thought it started YESTERDAY...whoops).  we had a great day together and i actually got a lot of work completed. luca was a stellar office mate for the day.  he made good use of my whiteboard, but had also erased a lot of important information.  oh well.
mom is blue, tina is red, luca is green

yurt camping 2013

no labor day weekend is complete without some quality time with close friends and a whole campground full of kids.  we had so much fun...every year is better than the last.  we eat camp food, have bonfires,  ride mountain bikes, fish,  explore!
this year was ultra rad because the keelings joined us. i love my time with the keeling kids (their parents too!).

from top to bottom, left to right: david jr, ethan, true, harrison, finn, luca, emmett, adeline, betsy, magnolia, gus, bo, dolly, odessa, ruben, jaxon, georgia (charlie, not pictured...he refused)
and here is true....top of the climb up to the mountain bike trails.  he's pretty stoked on mountain biking, which makes his mom and dad pretty happy!
