a lesson for mom

with a busy weekend, a lot to do, little time to do it...i found myself on the side of irritable. nothing was right, i was barking constant orders to the kids and nobody was happy.  true was busy with an art project and i found him using up the last of the *expensive* double stick tape.  i barked at him for wasting *expensive* tape.  he was truly sad, apologized....and i only half noticed.  then i barked more orders like, "don't stick up that sign on the walls, it will ruin the paint", and "don't stick that sign up on the furniture, it will leave a sticky residue and look terrible".   he apologizes again, and asks if he can put it on his door.  sure, i reply.
well, looky here at what his sign says:

in case you need a close up, here it is again:

and then, a quick end to my ranting, and a big hug for my oldest, followed by a big apology.
sometimes, you just need to step back, look at yourself, and be thankful for all the love of your family. you can only drink the ocean of work one teaspoon at a time and remember what really matters-  like a sign made by your son. lesson learned.
