like a daisy...

the lumineers are the most played music at our house currently.  the kids love the songs, and we have even adopted one of them as our family anthem, ho hey
it's awesome to watch as the kids learn the lyrics over time, and they get so excited to sing at the top of their lungs and dance around.  such a simple pleasure,  but it just makes us so happy.  and who knew (because neither parent can carry a tune), that true would end up with a very sweet singing voice?
not to be out done by his brother, luca has chosen his favorite song to sing, "like a daisy"...only, it's really, "like the dead sea".   i admire his choice of word substitution, and he absolutely insists on singing this way.  he thinks it's "just so nice to tell somebody they are like a flower, mom, and not dead. it really is."
oh how i just love these erbeck boys.

the welcoming committee

tuesdays are spent patiently waiting for dad to come home from his bike ride.  sometimes, the kids get creative in how they will welcome him.

adventures in camping

honestly, quite an adventure was had this past weekend, camping with the keelings.  the story is grand, and long, and humorous, and not so funny, and hilarious...all at the same time.  our little adventure included the following (in order):
a driving route, off the beaten path (departure time 3:15 pm, estimated arrival, 7:45pm)
12 miles of mini mall after mini mall after mini mall...aka, Puyallup, WA
an ignored detour sign.  a route retrace.  a not ignored detour
an ignored road closed sign.  another ignored road closed sign.  a road closed.
a friendly reminder from a nice state trooper as to the speed limit
a very dark and quiet campground (arrival, 11:00pm)
a rain storm.  big time.
more rain. big time.
some sun. not so big time.
a fleet of mosquitoes on each child, poised to carry them away
and the good stuff: lots of laughs, kids having a blast, friends who truly love and miss each other
