All in a Day

I ride my bike to work most days. Rain, shine, snow, you name it. Every morning I am tasked with packing bag with everything I might need for the day. It varies, depending on my mood, or if I'm working out before hand, if I have a meeting, etc... Occasionally, my brain misfires and I end up forgetting to bring something important. If it's lunch- no big deal, I can get something decent on campus. It's entirely another problem if the missing item is clothing (usually a bra), or god forbid, my makeup bag. Then it's a phone call to Aaron where I beg and plead my case (such, as, my boobs will jiggle without my bra...or I can't open my office and let anybody see me if I don't have lipgloss on). Aaron's pretty much a saint, and he loads up the needed items and the kids and then rescues this damsel in distress.

Today, it was shoes. I forgot my shoes. I just couldn't fathom spending the day walking around in bike cleats. Surely there would be a mishap and I'd end up falling on my face. Not to mention that my bike shoes don't go with today's outfit.

Aaron dragged the kids to the building to bring me shoes and spend a little time for a visit. It's so great to have True and Enzo come to see me at work. They are a hit! Today they chased bubbles in the Atrium- entertainment provided by Sofia, our resident barista.

And thankfully, my shoes match my outfit.

Aaron Goes Mountain Biking!

Aaron needed a little sunshine and time with his buddies, so off he went for 5 days to Fruita,CO, with Greg, Darren, Ben and Rob. He worked fervishly the week before the trip to repair and paint his Erbeck single speed (pictured). The hard work paid off, his bike is beautful.

Aaron reported in each evening with the daily ride- all sounding like true epics. I took the phone calls, happy to hear is voice...but his concentration was clearly on the moment with his friends. He sounded exhausted and euphoric. A little shot of jealousy runs through my veins as he describes his singletrack moments.

In the meantime, True and I managed to thoroughly trash the house, the car, eat all the food, buy more, eat all of that, take lazy naps, go see bike races, shoot some hoops...and enjoy some much needed mom-son time.

We both missed Aaron, waking up each morning to search all the rooms in the house...dreaming that perhaps we somehow would find him tinkering with a bike, fixing something, building something....

Child Labor

Here's a picture of True taking a break after loading bricks into the back of Buck the truck. Aaron clearly has no clue about child labor laws.

True on a Bike!

well, ok, it's not a bike. It's still a little early for True to be riding a bike. But he's now on a trike! By the look on his face the sun is either in his eyes or he's not quite sure if he likes triking. I'd like to say it is a sun issue (after all True is our son and therefore he will LOVE riding bikes) but, as usual, it's cloudy. In good time I'm certain True will come to absolutely adore bike riding (and racing too)!

Old pic, new to me

Here's a picture of True and Aaron that Heather Keeling snapped last summer. I've just seen it for the first time. I love True's suntan and his bare feet. The whole scene makes me wistful for summer.

Skateboarding!

It's never too early to start...well, I guess they have to be able to walk. In any event, Aaron has had True on the skateboard a few times already. It won't be too long before True shreds the skate park!
